Luka Doncic rookie card value by grade
Grade decides almost everything for this card, so values are given as ranges by tier rather than a single price. Base is extremely common and cheap; Silver Prizm is the scarcer key version; Gold and Black are genuinely rare.

Is this really the rookie card?
A straightforward, universally recognized rookie card from Doncic's actual 2018-19 rookie season. The base Prizm #280 is mass-produced and cheap in most grades; the money lives in the parallel ladder (Silver, Gold, Black), and his record-setting cards are a different product entirely (the National Treasures Logoman autograph).
Key versions and parallels
- Silver Prizm #280, the parallel most collectors chase and the meaningful money card
- Gold Prizm #280 /10, a top-graded example sold for $800,000 in 2021
- Base Prizm #280, the common, inexpensive version most copies in circulation represent
How rare is it, really?
Base is extremely common and cheap; Silver Prizm is the scarcer key version; Gold and Black are genuinely rare.
- Print run: Panini does not publish Prizm print runs, but the base card alone accounts for a large share of the entire 2018-19 Prizm basketball PSA population; raw base copies commonly sell for well under $100
- Graded population: PSA data shows the base #280 among the most heavily submitted cards in the set; the Gold Prizm parallel is limited to 10 copies with 3 graded PSA 10
History
Doncic arrived in the NBA in 2018 as a EuroLeague MVP and champion, already an international star, which fueled immediate demand for his rookie cards. Panini's 2018-19 Prizm set became the flagship product of his rookie class, with the chase for rare numbered parallels driving huge auction prices, including an $800,000 Gold Prizm sale in February 2021. His Finals runs and 2025 trade to the Lakers have repeatedly reignited demand across all grades.
How to spot a fake
- Genuine Prizm foil shifts color cleanly across the surface under light; dull, blotchy, or non-shifting foil is a counterfeit tell.
- Authentic Panini stock feels sturdy with clean, sharp die-cut edges; flimsy feel or rough edges point to a fake.
- Silver, Gold, and Black parallels are frequent counterfeit targets: always verify the certification number on the grader's official lookup before paying parallel prices.
- Compare image sharpness and text printing against verified listings; pixelation or blur is a common tell across faked Panini products.
Before you grade it
- Print lines and small circular dimples are common factory defects on Prizm-era cards and a legitimate reason a clean-looking copy misses PSA 10.
- Centering is the single most important grading factor for Prizm; check front borders and back alignment under a loupe before submitting.
